Wait a minute - a survey I read about on Birchbox’s blog said the women questioned only had 3+ lip products in their purse at one time? THAT IS INSANITY. The load pictured here is pretty light considering what I usually lug around with me, considering I have about 85 lipsticks and counting. I dumped out my Tylie Malibu bag and Missy the cat helped me investigate what was inside. Check out what this Lipstick Queen carries around from place to place.
Guess how many of these lipsticks, from $2.99 Wet & Wild to $30 Armani, are shades of red? Yep, all of them. I never travel without a tube of MAC’s Ruby Woo, my perfect super-matte look-at-me red. I tend to obsess over bright cherry reds, hence Revlon’s Fire & Ice and Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Mat 8, but there’s an orange-red (Armani Rouge 401) and a wine-red (CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Tempt) thrown in there too, just to mix it up. I mean, this is Minnesota in August. What if it’s super sunny and I’m wearing a lot of bronzer? That calls for orange reds. What if it’s overcast? Wine red! What if I’m going to dinner after work? Chanel red! I need my options! People respond to a girl in red lipstick and I’m happy to be that girl.
I kind of hate lip gloss, but NARS Super Orgasm gloss is one I actually can’t live without. Why have an Orgasm when you can have a SUPER Orgasm? I love that it’s pink/gold with noticeable but not obnoxious sparkles - plus, if I’ve been kissing you, there may or may not be gold glitter left on your face.
And for when I feel super-duper low-maintenance, there’s the Jouer balm. I got it in a Birchbox and ordered it immediately. (So did a ton of other people, because they had to produce a bunch more.) It plumps up my mouth a bit and adds just a hint of shine. My lips, but way better … subtly.
This may look like a ton of lipsticks to the average eye, but for me it’s just a normal week. I change my mind a lot, so I better have an arsenal of lipsticks to match. And it’s not like they’re heavy!
